30+ Artists, Makers, and Nonprofits Open Their Doors for Unique Holiday Shopping and Behind-the-Scenes Creative Experience
MOBILE, AL — On Saturday, December 13th from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Central Midtown (1260 Dauphin Street) will transform into a vibrant marketplace celebrating the creative spirit of Mobile. This free Christmas Market & Open House invites the community to explore four floors and over 3,000 square feet of artist studios, craft workshops, and nonprofit spaces while finding one-of-a-kind gifts for the holiday season.
A Creative Community Under One Roof
Central Midtown houses an extraordinary collection of makers and doers. Visitors will discover painters, potters, photographers, musicians, videographers, sewers, leather workers, candle makers, quilt-makers, writers, and illustrators—all opening their creative spaces to the public. The event offers a rare opportunity to peek behind the curtain and witness the artistic process firsthand.
Live demonstrations throughout the day will bring the creative process to life. Attendees can watch candle making, pottery throwing, and sewing demonstrations while enjoying live music performances. These interactive experiences allow visitors to engage directly with artists and learn about their craft.
More Than a Market
Beyond shopping for unique, handcrafted gifts, the Christmas Market & Open House showcases Central Midtown’s role as a hub for community impact. The space houses Love All Pantry, Mobile’s largest food pantry, whose operations center visitors can tour. Teams building tiny houses for the homeless will be on-site to discuss their mission. Two book publishers, organizations supporting young families, and groups focused on indigenous women’s education and enrichment will share their work with attendees.
The venue also offers wellness and professional development resources, with massage therapists, mental health therapists, and career coaches available to discuss their services. The gallery currently features the Alabama Art Education Association Southern Region Annual Fall Student Art Show, running from November 17 through December 15. A special reception for the student art show will be held December 11th from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, adding another dimension to the creative atmosphere.

“This open house is about more than holiday shopping—it’s about showcasing what’s possible when creative people come together,” said Chris Bullock, Central Midtown’s building manager. “We want Mobile to see this inclusive community of creators and be inspired to engage more deeply with their city, to be more creative in their own lives, and to grow in healthy ways that help them live their best lives.”
